However, the concept of pairing via USB narrows the scope of usage and/or adds hidden cost. If I have to add a PC in the kitchen block, a $199 phone is not $199 phone any more...

Check this new version of the Polycom catalina. This one is called cx300 and they get the phone form factor correct: (very correct)

I just got one of these sitting on my desk to do a video review on it and test. It is a VERY nice phone. (but of course must be coupled with a pc) Snom still the only &quot;clerk/warehouse&quot; phone for OCS.
